The averaging of overtime across more than a day or pay period is an award condition that delivers flexibility.

With the legislation to now offer casual employees part-time, or full-time employment after 12 months we need counterbalancing rules to return as much flexibility as we can.

We have similar conditions in many awards including HIGA and Restaurant so the ideal is to see the conditions inserted into the business agreements.  

This condition we call Time Period Overtime (TPOT) will offset the longer days with shorter ones over a selected period providing scheduling flexibility and reducing overtime costs
