Employee Multi-Engagement Rosters and Timesheet in the One Shift
With the legislative move to offer more permanent employee status for casual staff, a way of reducing the labour cost impact of such a change is available.
Inzenius rostering facilitates the same employee being rostered for different roles and positions for parts of their day. When authorised, these engagements are saved as part of the timesheet process for automated payroll.
In some industrial instruments, the ability for staff to work as multi-hire employees has already been added, facilitating the treatment of components of their shift as independent Engagements for payroll interpretation. An example is the Crown Resorts agreement.
Inzenius facilitates this process by using its multi-engagement capability. Different shifts for the same employee on the same day can be either a joined engagement, where overtime is created based on the total shift times worked, or a split engagement, where the separate engagements are treated as a new shift to interpret each engagement separately. This reduces the costs substantially when applied.
Typically, the separate engagement concept can be used where the employee’s role differs from their primary role. For example, in the Crown case, a card dealer can work as a food and beverage service provider in the banqueting department.
These engagements can be paid at a different award rate, with their costs allocated to distinct locations, positions, pay classifications, events, and tasks. The time worked billing rate charge out export for the billing system.
The Process
Employees are offered shifts in the secondary engagement.
Once worked, the shifts are authorised by the supervisor, creating the payroll-ready timesheet.
It is that simple in Inzenius.
